Meg Mitchell Moore talks to Carol Fitzgerald about VACATIONLAND, her latest novel, which is set in Maine. The home in the book is loosely based on a home that her friends own in Maine. She loves visiting there and setting a book there was a joy. The book opens with a woman on a bus coming to town, which Meg notes hits the theme --- “a stranger comes to town.” From there why she is there is juxtaposed around the story of Louisa and her children who are set to spend a wonderful summer at their grandparents’ home. But her grandfather is slipping with Alzheimer’s and that causes a pall over the usual summer vibe. She talked about the how she worked on the pacing for secrets kept and secrets revealed.
